Your roof and siding are vital pieces of your property, they provide the whole structure with protection from the elements. Your roof and siding keep rain, hail and excessive sunlight and wind from damaging your home and disturbing the occupants. Not only does your roof and siding protect your home it also contributes to the overall exterior design. That is why great looking, protective and durable roofing and siding is crucial. Its not often that you can drive through a newer built neighborhood and see much more than a light grey or tan home with varied elevations in attempts to make the neighborhood seem like there is variety. More and more established property owners are altering their exterior colors to add more curb appeal to the home and essentially their neighborhoods. This Joliet home was no exception. The originally installed roof and sifting had a dove grey appearance that had faded to a shade of white. The homeowner chose a bold alternative. Our teams replaced the old roof first. Off with the dark grey/black and in with the mission brown color. Once we completed the roof replacement, the old siding was removed. We replaced it with an insulated vinyl siding in Sable Brown color. This home is in the middle of a horseshoe shaped street and definitely adds a gorgeous curb appeal to the neighborhood.
Small leaks in your roof from something as simple as the original plastic boot seal around a plumbing stack can leave a homeowner baffled. Not knowing what it looks like up close can cause homeowners to think that from a far things are good. When a plastic seal boot cracks, water will find it's way down the crack and into your home. We choose to use lead plumbing flashings for these stacks to ensure durability and extensive protection to your home interior. A lead plumbing plashing will expand and contract with the ever changing temperatures and is able to maintain a seal. It is also extremely flexible which helps with installation on any roof as it is able to be maneuvered to match any pitch of a roof and hold a great seal.
Upon the start of the repair, it was discovered that the builder did not install a solid nailing surface on the chimney. Instead, they relied on one 2x4 stud up the middle and then the two outside corners (which were also 2x4 wood). They then installed a fiberboard over the 2x4's and not plywood. This was the cause of the siding to blow off.
Our service crew had to install plywood over the area to give more solid nailing points to properly install the new siding.
